This week in T.Y. hasn't been as busy as usual, which is very strange and uncommon haha. It was a welcome change though as we are always on the go. This week our T.Y pictures were taken, and like the past three years I think, I missed it...so I had to have it done today, looking all tired and bedragled after just getting back from Newbridge.
Why were we in Newbridge? Well we had a meeting with a member of the Enterprise Board about the progress of our business mini-companies. It was held in the Odean cinema there. We learned how to be successful in business by being polite and listening, along with being an assertive communicator. We learned about aggressive, passive, and passive aggressive people also, the way we should handle certain situations in business also. It was very helpful as we are all working in teams.
We then got to go to the White Water shopping centre food court, this was great because after the long bus ride and delays of the morning, we all appreciated something hot :) it was, naturally, freezing.
For me, it has been a good T.Y week as I got my Junk Kouture project finished which will now allow me to focus more on other aspects of other projects. Over the next few weeks it will get pretty hectic with projects, Junk Kouture fashion shows and deadlines, and the final work experience of 2012 ....
Wish us luck haha :)

A T.Y. Update :)
I know I haven't posted in a while but I didn't have much to write about up until today :)
The past few weeks that I haven't been updating for have been very busy, we have had lots of projects and deadlines to meet, so we were all running around like headless chickens to be honest ha ha.
Once we got our biggest projects out of the way, we could go back to less stressful few weeks in T.Y. We have all still been working super hard on our Junk Kouture over the past few weeks, many of us are coming close to finishing, the group I am part of is actually just a few blobs of glue away from being done.
Then we were all very busy with our entries for the F1 in schools national competition, which we are doing in our Technology class.
Along with these projects we have had History and Geography to be working on, along with an English mood board (which was super fun) and a life journey through images. quotes and songs.
This week alone has been great. On Tuesday we were given the chance to take time out in our English class and go to the library (the newly stocked and fantastic library should I say). We were allowed to select any book of our choice and read for the class. This was a really great way of getting people to sign up for the library, simply because, if you picked and book and started to read it, and loved it, you would want to become a member so you could keep it (for three weeks) to read it. I got a great book and I am loving being part of the schools library :)
In maths as part of doing our cryptography, we have been watching the film "National Treasure" which is really interesting and also a nice change from the usual maths theory we have been doing. On Thursday the T.Y.s were all invited to attend a talk in the library by one of our teachers here at school, on The Simon Community and her work with them, and what they are all about. This was so interesting and I found it really inspiring the work that the organisation does to help the homeless, and also, the work that this particular teacher did completely voluntarily. It was really insightful and uplifting to know that there are options and help for those in need.
So that's what has been going on over the past few weeks, I promise not to leave such a big gap between posts again (swear) ha ha :)

The Names Bond.James Bond.
This week in TY has been absolutely mad...the week was going just as any other would, classes, projects....but then, Thursday came around. We were all excited to be getting a change of scenery and going on the bus to Naas for a talk on our mini-company entries. We had all piled into the cinema where it was to take place, and got seated. Forty minutes had passed and we all thought it very odd that the meeting hadn't started yet.
We were then giving the very sad news that the woman who was to give us the workshop was very ill and unable to attend. (we all hope she gets better very very soon x).
We all thought we were going to be taken back to the bus and that we would have to go back to our normal Thursday classes. Then, it happened. We were told instead of going back to school, we were going to get to watch Skyfall. Yes, the brand new Bond film. A cheer erupted in the cinema and with good reason..
The film was incredible and the atmosphere was electric. The movie was one of the best I have ever seen and everyone seemed to think pretty much the same thing too. We thought that the day couldn't possibly get any better, we were wrong. Turns out TY is full of lovely surprises.
When we left the cinema we were each given a bag with popcorn, jellies, Sprite and a Madagascar 3 cup in it. Needless to say this had everyone leaving the cinema in a fantastic mood :)
Alot of unexpected things happen in TY....I absolutely love that about this year :)

Another week goes by In the land of T.Y....
Another week has gone by in the land of TY and it has been another hugely successful and fun. This week we have our hugely anticipated Halloween dress up day. A lot of work has gone into the day with some people even making huge efforts to dress to impress. Some girls even got up extra early to create some amazing costumes.
As T.Y.s we are all dressed as the un-dead, zombies!!! :)
We had an amazing fun day and everyone got into the spirit and fun of the day, even if they were not in costume, they made the effort to take part in activities and to get into any games we did.
Over all this week in TY was great, there was no down points to this week it was fantastic all round :) then again....when is a week in TY not fantastic??

Short Update :)
Just a quick update on all thats been happening in TY this week :)
Not much has gone on during this week, just regular classes and work experience as usual on the Wednesday, but this morning, we had a talk about the benefits of cycling. It was a really interesting talk and opened my eyes to how good using bikes as a form of transport can be.
I will definately be cycling a lot more often now :)

Busy Busy Busy...
Over the past few weeks TY has gotten more and more hectic haha. With the projects beginning to roll in I am now busier than ever. Maths projects, Geography, Religion, English...but I am really enjoying doing them all :)
The projects have all been really fun and interesting so far so they haven't really felt much like work. Last week we had our opening year mass which I unfortunately missed but I heard it was really great and went really well. Also the fun walk was on last week and our theme was Yellow and Friendship!
My class were all yellow lego blocks and danced to Hey Ya by Outkast. I heard it was really good fun despite the dance not being in sync ...haha. I missed that too unfortunately but from the pictures and stories I really wish I hadn't.

Our Carlingford Adventure :)
It's the Friday after our busy week out and about. We set out to Carlingford Adventure Centre early Monday morning and were entertained by Tangled on the bus on the way over. Upon arrival we were given our rooms and a place (the drawers in our room) to store our many sweets and sugary treats. We were split into two groups and set out on our first activities of the day.
One group set off to the water activities and were clad in wet-suits, helmets, and their oldest shoes. It was really cold and quite wet but it didn't seem to dampen anyones spirits. Canoes were set up for those who were taking part of those who didn't got to go on an amazing power boat ride around the water, which was scary, but a lot of fun too. Once everyone had their fun on the water, games were played on the sand and, just our luck, the heavens opened up.
Once everyone was dressed and dried, we got to head back to the centre for a well deserved lunch. There were a few moans and groans about lost shoes, soggy feet and sore arms, but everyone still had a fantastic time on the water. Lunch was great, chips, sausage rolls and beans. I of course came prepared with my own homemade sandwhich, as you do. After we were all full and warm again, it was time for a quick change into our wellies and head of to the next activity
While some went on the water for the evening, the others went out to the high ropes. On the way, it absolutely lashed and everyone got soaked to the skins. Eventually the sun came out and dried us all off. The high ropes were, well, really high, and pretty scary to be honest. I wasn't brave enough to try it out, but I wish I had now. Zorbing was next and that was crazy fun for everyone. What could be better than rolling down a slippery grassy hill in a big inflatable ball???
That evening there was a night walk and even though I wasn't there I heard it was super fun and a great laugh! That night we stayed up a little later than we should have and ate maybe one to many sweets. Despite this, everyone got a good night sleep and woke up happy and looking forward to the activities of the day. This was Tuesday, and it was my favourite day! First there was team challenges which were sooo good. They really got us bonding together and talking to new people. We may have ended up with the least gems at the end but we had great fun together! :)
Final activity?? The BEST thing I have ever done. We trecked up a very, very, steep hill. We were half dead before we made it up but we did it. We were kitted out with our laser guns and army style jumpsuits. Lasers. Most fun thing you will ever do. We got split into teams and were let loose after being told all the rules and safety regulations. Never thought I would kill 25 people in one day...in the game of course. The sun came out and we walked home feeling warm and dry for the first time during our trip. Loved the lasers soo much :)
Overall, the trip was amazing. We all met new people, and made new friends. I never realised just how many lovely people there were in T.Y. People I would never have thought to speak to before. Carlingford was a fantastic experience and was really beneficial as a team building and bonding trip. Also, our instructors were amazing and so nice and helpful. Loved it. Best Trip Ever. Huge thanks to Mrs. L for taking usm hugely appreciated :)

My First Two Weeks In TY? Check
I have just finnished my first two weeks of TY and my overall impression so far ..? Better than I ever could have hoped for. Already I am so glad I chose to do this year. I was dreading a few classes and didn't know what to make of the way things were done. I have loved my first two weeks!
I am in a wonderful class full of really nice friendly people. All my teachers are great and the atmosphere of TY is always a good one. There seems to always be a sort of buzz about the place.
Our first day of workshops was the best day of my first TY week. Not having classes each Wednesday is such a foreign notion. It's nice to break up the week and have a change though.
TY has already taught me alot of new things and I have already made some new friends. Our trip to Carlingford is coming up this Monday and everyones really excited! Should be a great experience all round and hopefully it won't rain excessively :)
